Regular Guy 04:07
I’ve been thinking it over All the things in my head I’ve been trying to get over All the things that you said I’ve been tossing and turning All in my bed I’ve been trying to get over All those things that we did I’ve been wondering, my love Wondering How can I Even try To get by Just like some regular guy I’ve been fighting with the mirror Staring back so cold I’m left wondering how I Could feel so old It’s been 5 years now You’d think it was dead I was hiding out like somebody Who cares instead When you know the score I’m not gonna play it anymore With you, that’s true Treating me like some Regular guy I heard already All the voices inside They’re telling me baby Ya have to try I’ve been wondering, my love Wondering How can I Even try To get by Just like some regular guy
3.
I was walking back home nine o’clock when you said you saw the same thing twice on the telephone and then you walked out that door and never came back home So what you want me to be what you want me to be right now I can’t be right now So what you want me to see what you want me to see right now I can’t see right now But to find some peace of mind over time And you don’t know Why don’t you show me your cards and I’ll show you mine Well, 3 am I looked up you standing in the door I asked what happened You said you weren’t never coming back Then I asked you what you wanted and you said control So what you want me to be what you want me to be right now I can’t be right now So what you want me to see what you want me to see right now I can’t see right now But to find some peace of mind over time And you still don’t know Why don’t you show me your cards and I’ll let it go
4.
Up Not Down 03:50
I may be crazy I don’t know why And I may be sorry When you even try Won’t you pick me up Don’t you put me down Won’t you pick me up Don’t run me around I left my baby On the side of the road He made me crazy Or so I’ve been told Won’t you fill me up Don’t you let me down Won’t you fill me up Don’t run me down I may be crazy I don’t know why And I may be lazy Because I didn’t try Won’t you pull me up Don’t you push me down Won’t you pull me up Don’t run me around

ESTRANGED (EP) is the third solo record release of Lisa Said, Egyptian-American singer/songwriter. For these songs, she delves into her '70s rock influences and her situation to bring out the more raw side of her music.

Living in Washington, D.C., Lisa recorded these songs with legendary punk producer/engineer Don Zientara at Inner Ear Studio with the help of local musical talent (Andrew Toy, Andrew Cox) as well as long distance musical contributions (Seth Kauffman-NC, Joel Schantz-NC, Jason Kingsland-GA). This time around, Lisa picked up the bass, her first instrument, for the first time in years and played it on a couple of songs — 'Regular Guy' and 'Peel the Moon'.

The songs on ESTRANGED were written during a conflicted yet colorful two years of separation and dating while recording her solo debut album NO TURN LEFT BEHIND, an Americana and folk-rock exploration. This time around, the production represents her more gritty roots rock—Rolling Stones, The Who, Faces, Velvet Underground, etc. She wanted to get these songs recorded and out as soon as possible, and, as a result, Said could be more herself in the resulting sound: obsessive yet impatient, punchy, and rough around the edges.

ESTRANGED released on Tall Short Records on July 7, 2017.

NO DEPRESSION: "...successfully walks a line between radio-ready pop and rough-edged rebel rock a la Chrissie Hynde, Deborah Harry, and Velvet Underground... guitar-heavy backup here is excellent, and so are the compositions and attitude-soaked vocals."

POPDOSE: "'Some Dudes' is just plain fucking great – her voice is deadly smoky and sexy; the guitars are dirty and garage-y; she’s pushing The Velvet Underground envelope in a linear, poppy way and this is such a damned fine track."

DEPARTMENT OF TANGENTS: "The music is soulful, gritty, and clever... Estranged has a living, beating rock and roll heart, and the sound is cohesive but not repetitive. Which is to say, there’s a style there, and some nice surprises. "

JERSEY BEAT: "Said's husky voice and sharp songwriting make for a strong and winning double act. The rattling arrangements add a wonderfully raw rough'n'ready sonic kick...A refreshingly frank and unsentimental treat."
